Abstract

In the context of the universal system of human rights protection, the State parties, of a specific Covenant, have accepted the special Committees powers of watching and evaluation of human rights situation in its own countries. The Committee on rights of persons with disabilities is a group of experts which monitors implementation of the Convention by the States parties. In 2014, Mexico presented its Initial report to the Committee in order to be examined on the subject matter. In response to the report, the Committee expressed its preoccupation on equality and non-discrimination on the basis of disability condition.

One of the recommendations made by the Committee to the Mexican State is in favor of equality and non-discrimination due to disability. Eliminating stereotypes and is a pending task, the stigmatization of people with disabilities is given by the social assumption of a productive life whose normal pattern requires that the work has regular capabilities. That pattern leads to the manipulation of the figure of the person with disability as a subject of charity. Which does not pay, but anchor, to vulnerability and exclusion.
