Violence against women in Mexico: an approach from the perspective of international human rights law

Abstract

The paper is in reference to the violence against women from the perspective of internacional law of human rights; in particular it is being revised the content of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (cedaw, by their acronym meaning in english) and the Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishment and Eradication of Violence Against Women “Convention of Belem do Para”. It is also being studied the incidence of constitutional reform on human rights of 2011 in the harmonization and implementation of the international standars of women’s rights.


At the end of the above mentioned paper two practical aspects are studied that let us know the outstandings that exist on the subjects of prevention, attentiveness and punishment of violence against women in Mexico as femicide and the inclution of the gender perspective on administration of justice.
