Abstract

Disability is a phenomenon, in many cases, not studied and understood by most of society. The ignorance about it has led to the establishment of physical, cultural and academic barriers that have hampered ensuring the rights of people living with some kind of disability. This document, besides analyzing briefly the phenomenon of disability from a theoretical perspective, makes a summary on the winning papers of the first edition of Disability Research Competition in Mexico 2011.
